The Hundred Dresses Auditions

August 18 @ 7:00 pm

We are excited to announce auditions for our fall children’s production of The Hundred Dresses, a play by Mary Hall Surface adapted from the classic 1943 children’s book by Eleanor Estes, directed by Braden JP Rood. Auditions will be held for young actors and actresses 10 – 14 years old as well as adults (see character breakdown below) on Sunday, August 18 and Monday, August 19 at 7 PM in the Uptown Theatre of the First Street Community Center, located at 221 1st St. E., Mt. Vernon. Production dates of the show are October 4 – 6 and 11 – 13. There is nothing to prepare! There will be an audition form to fill out on audition nights, and please have schedule/conflicts available to jot down for us.

The story of The Hundred Dresses centers around Wanda Petronski, a girl from the “wrong” side of town whose family is from Poland. Wanda struggles to fit in with the other girls in her grade and seeks comfort by creating drawings of beautiful dresses which she keeps at home and shows to no one. Poverty, bullying, immigration, and the redemptive quality of art are the timeless themes explored in this story for all ages.
