Better Watch the Clock — Something Is Coming…
It can take years to bring a play from first thought to first performance—drafts, read-throughs, rewrites, auditions, rehearsals—all that time just to create a show that might change the world.
But who has time for all that?!
For our very last offering of our 45th Anniversary Season, MVLCT is thrilled to announce our upcoming 24-Hour Play Festival, where we’ll create six brand-new short plays from inception to opening night—all in a single day. And we’re inviting you to join the fun!
We’re looking for writers, directors, and actors to help bring this spectacular spectacle to life. The good news: the time commitment is just one day (plus performance time). The bad news: there is no bad news! Twenty-four hours is plenty of time to write, rehearse, and stage six entire shows. Trust us—we’re theater people.
The festival kicks off December 12, 2025, and culminates the evening of December 13 with performances of six never-before-seen plays at the Uptown Theatre in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
Sign-ups for writers, directors, and actors will open soon—so mark your calendars and stay tuned!
